Like A Politician
A politician does something counter stereotypical and it is photographed in the press.
A doctor poisons his patient.
A policeman begins a riot and gang-rapes a female student.
A camera points West – remote shutter activated.
And we wonder why all photo albums look the same.
Prostitutes give up life on the game
Fashionistas all begin to dress the same
And little boy blue gets tickled under the chin
A-choo-choo-choo A-choo-choo-choo
A cure for ebola is found and kills off the common cold
Lost people are found wandering around neighbourhoods that all look the same.
Families grow and spread out like margarine
on the great piece of toast, that is our island maritime.
This poem has taken on a life of its own and the next
sentence, when it appears, is like ‘so not my own’
But if I am to participate in the great game called life.
Like a politician is how i will spend half of my life.
My Punk Parents
Only Jokin’ Folks!
My parents were both policemen and police civilian staff and a policewoman and a Rotarian too if you include my step parents.
Upstanding citizens.
But I have a new theory. My punk friends (sic) think I am a policeman (?) and my family might think I am a semi-criminal punk.
This is not good news if you are living next to an ageing population looking for someone to blame for the ‘current situation’ in which people are not really bothered about ‘work’ or being ‘a citizen’ or ‘child’ or whatever a parent or sibling describes things.
Even justifying a right to be alive and free from outside interference made apparent in some cases by extreme examples of behavior by those who may subvert all efforts to integrate with either side as suspiciously as if devised by a mind that is set on disruption through methods foul.
In other words – Some poor shmuck will end up getting it in the neck.
Guess who that person might be?
That person might be me.
Am I being paranoid? Not if I count incidents as evidence of unwanted behaviour from either quarter. It adds up to something.
This piece of writing for one.
But little mental revelations are exactly that. It’s only because I thought it might make interesting reading that I put it to keyboard and screen. It’s not like I need it to be seen.
And the slights I imagine, well they may be for a totally other reason, or not even slights at all, just a part of life, as my old friend said often, being a space-ball.
