Get out your Schlong! (and sing along)

It’s Christmas time again. Time for champagne breakfasts with smoked salmon on crackers- if you’re that way inclined or just an excuse to spend more time with loved ones doing the things that make Christmas a special time of year.

Did you know that seventy percent of the money spent in pubs and bars happens over the Christmas period? If you are like me then there is nothing like spending Christmas in a boozer with your girlfriend or significant other getting bladdered so much that you forget what your Christian name is. Or if you prefer to check out on the Gastro pubs and wallow in foodie frenetics choosing between tortes, bouillabaisse and goujons.

Christmas is a time for family too. And if you were thinking that your family just haven’t got a drop of Christmas spirit in them then Good news! You’re just like millions of other folks from all over the world!. But don’t give up. Spending time with someone you love can be a good time to torture them. Tease them about the time they wet themselves or bring up embarrassing facts about them they would rather be forgotten. Everybody’s doing it so why shouldn’t you?

If you think Christmas should be a time for giving abuse to your fellow man then there is no point in you reading on. if however you find the urge to reach  out to those closest to you and give them a big Christmassy hug then please be my guest and continue.

Why is Christmas so special? Why above and beyond the other high days and holidays does Christmass elicit the big sort of collective Ah! that is missing from our lives the rest of the year round? I have a special Christmas memory one that is not about amazing presents or nights out, but one that I hold close to my heart and it for me is whatever place I am in, whomever I am with I can always think of this and it brings that Ahhhhh! I was talking about right back. It might bring a tear to my eye.

Another fond memory is that of the Christmas Party. Of Jelly and Ice Cream and wicked presents and being on Santas knee.

So whatever fond memories you have stored away unwrap them at Christmas and remember that when you are all sitting there looking glum. You were all children once.

All together now  Ahhhhh!
